Little Bird

When I watch Imogen Heap perform "Little Bird" on her Ellipse tour in November 2009, the most sublime serenity swept over my heart. It was as if the entire state of being wedge between a thousand other fanboys and fangirls had obliviated and it was just me and Ms. Heap facing each other alone in a completely black room in which light radiated from we two beings. She was of course playing on her big glass piano, and I stood staring, saying not a thing... To be mesmerized is bliss in a large empty plain.

At some point I remember falling out of the visceral and into the real. There was this princess in front of me and my friends who wouldn't keep his hands off other people he didn't know. That was real distracting. We weren't sure what we needed to say to him, if indeed we should have said something. Nevertheless, despite this nuisance, I'll never forget that one moment I shared with her as she wax radiant, subtly performing an ephemeral song for my heart.
